Network Engineer (LAN, Security & Wireless Infrastructure)

Purpose

The Network Engineer (NE) is a key member of Centrilogic’s international technology-based team, responsible for supporting both our customers and internal users. Our goal is to ensure service availability 24x7, proactively preventing interruptions caused by physical or virtual threats such as hardware failures, connectivity issues, or security vulnerabilities.

The Network Engineer is primarily responsible for supporting, securing, troubleshooting, and optimizing LAN, WLAN, NAC, routing, switching, and firewall infrastructures across client and internal environments. A strong focus will be placed on Aruba LAN switching, Aruba wireless access points (APs), Aruba Central cloud management, and ClearPass Policy Manager. The NE will also manage firewall security (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco) and routing/switching infrastructure (Cisco and Juniper).

The NE works on escalated tickets, deployment projects, system upgrades, network design, documentation, and process improvements. This role includes participating in an on-call rotation for 24x7 technical support.

The position reports to the Manager, Network Service Delivery and is hybrid, supporting Centrilogic’s Greater Toronto Area (GTA) locations as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Aruba LAN switching and wireless environments, including Aruba Central cloud onboarding and management.
  • Administer and optimize ClearPass for network access control (RADIUS, TACACS+, profiling, guest onboarding).
  • Install, configure, and manage firewall infrastructure (FortiGate, Palo Alto NGFWs, Cisco ASA/Firepower).
  • Support and configure routing and switching environments using Cisco (IOS/IOS-XR/IOS-XE) and Juniper (Junos).
  • Perform proactive network monitoring, capacity planning, firmware management, and fault investigation.
  • Implement security best practices across switching, wireless, and perimeter firewall infrastructure.
  • Plan and coordinate network changes with customers, ensuring minimal disruption and full compliance with Change Management procedures.
  • Provide detailed network documentation, diagrams, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base articles.
  • Participate in the 24x7 on-call rotation supporting critical incidents, upgrades, and project deployments.
  • Work outside of regular business hours as needed to support critical incidents, upgrades, maintenance windows, and project deployments.
  • Stay current with evolving technologies and recommend continuous improvements for Centrilogic’s managed network services.

Required Experience And Skills

  • University degree or College diploma in Networking, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in a hands-on technical support or engineering role managing medium to large-scale networks.
  • Strong expertise in Aruba switching and wireless infrastructures (CX/OS switches, Instant APs) and ClearPass policy management.
  • Practical experience with Aruba Central for cloud-based monitoring, onboarding, and lifecycle management.
  • Solid background in firewall security administration, especially FortiGate, Palo Alto, and Cisco firewall platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, STP, VLANs, VRRP, HSRP).
  • Experience deploying and troubleshooting Cisco (IOS, IOS-XE, IOS-XR) and Juniper (Junos OS) routing and switching platforms.
  • Strong packet-level troubleshooting skills, including the use of Wireshark or other protocol analyzers.
  • Familiarity with ITSM/ITIL methodologies is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing and able to participate in evening, weekend, and holiday on-call rotations.
