Senior Procurement and Contracts Officer

Contract to 07/11/2025 plus 6 month extension| Brisbane CBD & Work from Home


Join a large Queensland Government department as a Senior Procurement and Contracts Officer, where you will deliver assigned work and provide specialist accurate procurement support and advice in the social services procurement and grants. This includes aspects of acquiring and delivering public services for the benefit of the community, such as welfare, housing, health, education, re-integration support services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely, professional, and strategic procurement advice to stakeholders and suppliers on procurement processes and practices as they relate to and are affected by legislation and Queensland Government Procurement and policies, procedures, delegations, and guidelines.
  • Undertake end to end strategic procurement activities to deliver the procurement outcome for the stakeholder, including:
  • Procurement planning, sourcing strategy and approval
  • Completion of procurement documentation to release to market
  • Tender administration
  • Lead evaluation and negotiation for supplier selection
  • Finalise the award of the contract (including preparing contract documents)
  • Manage contract handover to contract manager.
  • Contract management including planning, contract administration, reporting and incident management
  • Monitoring contract performance with robust KPI’s and performance management
  • Management of contractual disputes and invoicing issues
  • Prepare contract variations and contract extensions for assigned contracts ensuring that appropriate process and relevant documentation is maintained.
  • Undertake contract negotiations as required to ensure operational efficiency and value in the delivery of assigned contracts
  • Prepare and/or review performance reports, briefing notes, and other correspondence in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Maintain the record management systems including databases, registers, and other procurement systems whilst also contributing to system improvements to increase their efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and focus groups with stakeholders to elicit, analyse and document business and functional requirements, and management of requirements traceability.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and competent in carrying out end to end procurement process, including tender evaluation, processes leading to award, negotiation, contract award and debrief processes across a range of industries.
  • Experience in delivering complex procurement processes.
  • Able to adapt tactics to emergent situations and delivers results consistently.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to provide guidance on risk mitigation for procurements.
