Responsibilities


  • Apply SRE principles to enhance availability, latency, performance, and efficiency, including for database systems.
  • Conduct capacity planning and performance testing, including database load testing.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and resilient.
  • Manage and optimize cloud resources and costs.
  • Ensure security best practices are integrated into infrastructure and deployment processes.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across platforms, infrastructure, and databases, and collaborate with other engineering teams.
  • Analyse incident trends to proactively identify and resolve underlying problems.
  • Contribute to proactive monitoring


Experience required

  • Advanced knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript in a Node.js and/or browser environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of additional programming languages including some of: C/C++, Java, or Ruby on Rails.
  • Experience using and administering Unix/Linux development environments.
  • Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly and effectively.
  • Extensive experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform, including core services such
  • as EC2, S3, and VPC, with a strong understanding of AWS networking concepts and best practices.
  • Deep understanding and practical experience with AWS Relational Database Service (RDS), specifically
  • PostgreSQL, including setup, configuration, scaling, and performance optimization.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform (or similar) to provision and manage AWS
  • resources, including network infrastructure.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS on AWS).
  • Strong experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using Buildkite (or similar).
  • Experience with AWS monitoring and logging services (e.g., CloudWatch, CloudTrail).
  • Strong understanding of security best practices within the AWS environment, including network security principles.
  • Significant experience developing and deploying serverless applications using AWS Lambda.
