Enterprise Workflows | AI Engineering | Full-Stack Automation | Melbourne CBD-based (Hybrid)

Contract to Start → Fast-Tracked to Retainer, Fractional CTO, or Leadership Role

This is a senior technical role for someone who can not only map and automate workflows, but actually engineer the system. We’re looking for someone based in Melbourne CBD who can work hybrid (in-person access required) and code end-to-end solutions across APIs, data sync, and AI toolchains.

You’ll be operating inside a high-performance consulting firm that works with operators doing $10M–$50M+ in annual revenue. If you’ve ever been the “quiet weapon” behind a high-growth founder or scaled automations that cut human hours by 80% - this is the seat you've been looking for.

What you'll be responsible for

This role spans strategy, engineering, and architecture. You’ll be responsible for:

System Engineering

• Auditing and mapping complex business workflows across sales, onboarding, fulfilment, and retention
• Designing clean, scalable system logic - no brittle hacks or tangled zaps
• Working across tools like Airtable, Notion, HubSpot, Make.com, Zapier, Stape, Google Sheets, and more

AI & Automation Engineering

• Building GPT-based flows using OpenAI API, Claude, or custom-trained models
• Creating retrieval-augmented generation pipelines (RAG) using embedded knowledge bases
• Writing custom scripts to connect APIs and trigger workflows where no plug-and-play tool exists
• Creating micro-apps, agents, and utilities that solve real problems for consulting and service businesses

Code Level Buildout

• Writing and deploying code to support integrations (e.g. Node.js, Python, JavaScript, Google Apps Script)
• Building dashboards, dynamic logic routers, webhook triggers, serverless functions, and async queues
• Implementing failover logic, logging, permissions, rate limit management, and data sync integrity

Strategic Deployment

• Working directly with the Director, Strategists, and Project Leads to convert business problems into automation blueprints
• Leading solution discovery calls with clients when needed (you're not client-facing by default, but you're credible when pulled in)
• Prototyping quickly - then scaling with stability, documentation, and long-term viability

The Ideal Candidate

You're a systems-native operator with a strong dev background. You think like an engineer, solve like an architect, and care like a founder.

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Based in Melbourne CBD, with the ability to meet in person for major planning sessions or project reviews (hybrid, not fully remote)
• 4–10 years deep in systems thinking, workflow design, and automation engineering
• Fluent in Make, Zapier, Airtable, Notion, HubSpot, GA4, Google Sheets, etc.
• Strong at JavaScript / Node.js / Python for custom integrations and API work
• Experienced with OpenAI API, LangChain, Pinecone, Claude, Fireflies, or other modern AI tools
• Comfortable building internal agent tools, knowledge search portals, automated onboarding flows, and sales proposal generators
• Documented, detail-oriented, and proactive - not a freelancer waiting for instructions, but a builder who makes things better
• Excited by high-trust, high-performance environments where you own the infrastructure powering real business growth
