The Opportunity

Mawer Investment Management is looking for a highly organized and motivated Project Manager with strong Business Analysis skills to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent risk monitoring and mitigation capabilities together with a deep understanding of operational processes in an investment management or capital markets space. The candidate will also provide business analysis and project management support for our Legal, Risk and Compliance function. Exposure to auditing will be considered a strong asset. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope and budget while maintaining strong sponsor and stakeholder satisfaction with a view to delivering on operational excellence.


This position reports to the Head, PMO.


Role Responsibilities

  • Manage one or more projects within the Legal, Risk and Compliance and Operational Excellence portfolio and other related projects
  • Stakeholder and sponsor management
  • Project planning, coordination, communication, performance monitoring & documentation
  • Monitor project budgets and track expenditures against forecasts
  • Identify and manage resource needs and allocation
  • Use of methodologies to document operational processes to identify risk and process optimization opportunities
  • Collaborate with leadership to reinforce the vision and goals of the operational platform
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to set realistic and practical goals
  • Identify all the internal and external resources (financial or human resources) required to successfully complete projects
  • Evaluate and report progress on a regular basis


Desired Qualifications

  • 10+ years of project experience (developer/business analyst/project management)
  • 5+ years of exposure in a risk, compliance, regulatory environment
  • Post-secondary degree in a finance, accounting, or information technology discipline
  • Formal project management training and certification (e.g. PMP, Scrum Master) is preferred
  • Solid experience in managing small to medium sized projects; financial industry experience preferred
  • Experience in change management methodologies
  • Strong Business Analysis skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proven analytical, problem solving, and trouble-shooting skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent client service, and team collaboration
  • Demonstrated investment management domain knowledge will be considered an asset
  • Audit experience a plus
