Job Title: Procurement Engineer – Shipyard (10+ Years Experience Required)

Job Summary

We are hiring a Procurement Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of direct experience in a shipyard environment. Candidates without shipyard experience will not be considered. The selected professional will be responsible for managing procurement activities for shipbuilding, ship repair, and marine engineering projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely delivery of all materials and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end procurement for shipyard materials, equipment, and subcontracting services.
• Interpret technical specifications related to hull, piping, machinery, electrical, and outfitting systems.
• Identify and qualify shipyard-specific vendors and negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, planning, and production teams to align procurement with project timelines.
• Monitor supplier performance to ensure adherence to quality standards and contract terms.
• Maintain procurement documentation, reports, and supplier databases in compliance with shipyard protocols.
• Ensure all purchases meet regulatory, classification society, and safety standards applicable to shipbuilding projects.
  
  

Mandatory Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in a shipyard (shipbuilding or ship repair) is strictly required.
• In-depth knowledge of shipyard operations, materials, and marine engineering specifications.
• Proven experience in sourcing components for marine systems (e.g., hull structure, propulsion, outfitting).
• Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with international marine procurement standards and compliance regulations.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Industrial Engineering.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Understanding of classification requirements (e.g., ABS, DNV, BV) and IMO standards
