About Role

As the Media & PR Manager based in Shanghai, you are responsible for promoting brand awareness and thought leadership to the business community and the general public, through media and social media platforms, tools and content. You will manage the key media and support the global and regional thought leadership campaigns, with a primary focus on mainland China.

Your Key Duties

  • Develop and implement comprehensive PR and media communication strategies in Mainland China that support business objectives, build and maintain strong media relationship across Mainland China.
  • Oversee and work with Mainland China media outlets to secure interviews, op-eds, columns, awarding opportunities, speaking engagements and other earned media opportunities to raise CPA Australia’s brand awareness.
  • Manage day-to-day media inquiries / interview requests, monitor and deliver monthly PR report to provide market insights/ideas/trends to local offices, and constantly evolve the media communication approach.
  • Engage the media spokespersons, drive them to provide thought leadership and provide on-site support for all media activities.
  • Research various channels to identify topics and content which supports campaigns and provides a platform for creating relevant content for the target audience. Includes maintaining market knowledge of industry trends relevant to members / business.
  • Collaborate with the Policy and Advocacy team, regional managers and stakeholders to design and develop thought leadership projects in China such as survey, joint researches, whitepapers, etc.
  • Support regional managers to engage with strategic government officials, professional bodies, universities through thought leadership content.
  • Initiate, plan and oversee media campaigns and support large events in Mainland China (e.g. surveys, joint researches, press conferences, sponsored events, etc.).
  • Manage media campaigns and events within defined budget and report on expenditure as required.
  • Report on campaign performance including accurate and actionable insights and findings.
  • Content creation, development and management, include but not limit to: Bilingual version of media materials, written answers to media interviews, member profiling stories, briefing books for spokespersons, oversee and update the content on official Chinese webpage.
  • Manage daily media monitoring and research: research various channels to identify high quality and influential online and social media opportunities for advocacy.
  • Leverage media channels to engage senior executives and connect to business development team for further engagement.
  • Support local events and global/regional media activities.
  • Support global campaigns execution aligned to business outcomes (such as acquisition and retention campaigns)
  • Provide internal communication support across regions as required.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Marketing, or Communications with a Masters Degree preferred
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in Mandarin, English and Chinese
  • Able to communicate confidently across various channels in English and to adapt communication style based on audience and platform needs
  • Demonstrated experience working across digital marketing and communication platforms to build engagement
  • Experience working with internal and external agencies to design and deliver content aligned to brand voice
  • Strong work ethic and a passion for working together with other’s / other teams to achieve our strategic goals
  • High attention to details, with good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Team oriented, flexible, be multi-tasking, able to prioritise assignments, can work independently and under pressure
  • Proficiency in using MS office (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Agency experience would set you up for success
