ADASTEC is seeking a Linux System Administrator to build, improve, and scale the infrastructure that powers our automated busses and cloud computing units. As a Linux System Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting the Linux environments in both cloud-based and physical platforms. We expect you to enjoy thinking in systems and working on challenges related to the availability, reliability, scalability, and security of systems. In this role, you will be primarily using and gaining experience in Linux (primarily Ubuntu), AWS, Github Actions and shell scripting. Help us build the future of public transportation!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creating and maintaining reliable, scalable, and secure Linux environments that ensure the safety of our systems
  • Analyzing monitoring data to identify and resolve issues before they impact our systems
  • Providing advice on system architecture and security to the development team
  • Envisioning and enacting changes that improve development time, system performance, reliability and security
  • Providing technical leadership, and driving initiatives to completion
  • Tracking vulnerabilities and applying patches to ensure the security of our systems
  • Conducting deep investigations into new technologies and unexpected issues that arise during operation
  • Assisting development and deployment teams in troubleshooting system issues

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related fields
  • Experience in building and scaling Linux environments
  • Familiar with Linux (Ubuntu in particular), low-level networking, and system administration
  • Ability to write scripts in Bash, Python, or other languages to automate tasks
  • Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken) is a
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn, mentor, and engage in open discourse
  • Ability to make disciplined decisions by weighing tradeoffs
  • Provide easy-to-understand explanations of complex technical concepts
  • Understanding of system thinking and working on challenges related to the availability, reliability, scalability, and security of linux systems
