The Opportunity

As the Engineering Manager for the Platform team, you'll play a critical leadership role in building and evolving the infrastructure, core services and internal development platform that power aXcelerate products.

You’ll lead a team of talented engineers, drive strategic initiatives, and collaborate closely with the Engineering, Senior Solution Architect, technical lead and within the platform team to ensure our platform is scalable, reliable, and efficient.

Our Brisbane-based office offers hybrid work options however we welcome applications from remote candidates within Australia.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers focused on platform services, developer tooling, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, comprehensive documentation and cloud infrastructure to deliver a robust, scalable, and secure platform.
• Drive the technical direction for the team, balancing immediate business needs with long-term scalability, maintainability and technical debt reduction.
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to define and execute the platform roadmap and drive the evolution of the platform architecture towards modern cloud-native frameworks.
• Use data and feedback to identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvements in platform performance, reliability, and developer experience.
• Work with relevant departments (e.g., Security, Compliance) to ensure the platform meets all necessary regulatory requirements.
• Unblock product development teams by addressing platform-related escalations promptly.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ownership, innovation, and technical excellence.
• Recruit and develop world-class engineering talent.
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of engineering experience, with 2+ years in a technical leadership or management role.
• Deep understanding and hands-on experience with cloud technologies, particularly AWS (or similar cloud platforms like Azure or GCP).
• Experience in building global infrastructure to support B2B SaaS solutions.
• Strong background in building scalable systems and infrastructure in cloud-native environments (e.g. Kubernetes) and container orchestration.
• Proven track record of building and operating internal developer platforms.
• Deep understanding of modern DevOps practices, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and modern deployment techniques.
• Strong understanding and practical experience with serverless architecture.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• A strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute technical roadmaps and strategies.
• Experience with agile development methodologies.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field (desirable).
  
  

Nice To Have

• Experience with delivering infrastructure solutions that scale globally.
• Familiarity with data isolation models and compliance requirements (ISO 27001, TPES, GDPR, SOC2) and platform security within a SaaS environment.
• Knowledge of site reliability engineering (SRE) principles and practices.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
