About the Role
As the Engineering Design Manager, you will lead RUD Australia’s engineering design function, managing a talented, multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions.
You will oversee end-to-end design project delivery, ensure compliance with Australian and International standards, drive process improvements and collaborate closely with the production and sales teams to ensure seamless integration and customer satisfaction.
This role is critical to maintaining RUD’s engineering excellence and championing a culture of collaboration, technical mastery and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of Engineers, Draftsmen and Manufacturing Specialists.
- Oversee the design, development and delivery of high-quality engineering projects.
- Ensure all engineering activities meet relevant Australian and International standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across design and manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Sales and Quality teams to align design outcomes with business goals.
- Manage resources, workflows and project priorities to achieve delivery targets.
- Uphold and champion “The RUD Way” by fostering a culture of innovation, safety and customer focus.
What You’ll Bring - Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
- 10-15 years proven engineering application experience, ideally in steel fabrication or heavy industrial sectors.
- Advanced CAD skills - Solid Edge experience highly regarded.
- Minimum 5 years demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
- Strong background in engineering design, process optimisation and standards compliance.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels.
- A passion for continuous improvement, problem-solving and engineering innovation.
