Job Details
Responsible for directing an organization's accounting functions. These functions include establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. Prepares financial reports and presents findings and recommendations to top management. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Possesses excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The Controller will be responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day activities of the accounting group. This position will also assist in the annual development of the strategic plan for the Finance department.
Essential Job Functions
Financial reporting
Oversee and manage month-end closing process including journal entries and account reconciliation review to ensure timeliness, completeness, and accuracy of the financial data
Understand and implement new accounting standards and ensure that existing standards are properly implemented.
Prepare accurate and timely financial analysis and reports for senior management operational reporting, bank reporting and other external stakeholders including the shareholders and board of managers
Prepare appropriate dashboards on the company’s financial performance and health to facilitate decision making
Accounting operations
Oversee and supervise all finance and accounting functions
Oversee and manage Billings, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Project Cost Accounting, Revenue Recognition, Payroll and General Ledger functions
Cash Flow management
Monitor cashflow and liquidity and manage working capital requirements of the business
Assist with budgeting and forecasting
Financial strategy
Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team on strategic planning, forecasting and budgeting
Evaluate financial performance and proactively recommend improvements to achieve organizational goals including reducing costs and improving profitability
Compliance and risk management
Understand and assist with the timely delivery of debt reporting requirements and reporting requirements for Private Equity sponsors
Coordination of regulatory and tax reporting as well as managing tax returns
Coordinate external audit as well as any other audits by third parties to deliver audited financials
Identify and mitigate financial risks through developing and implementing effective and efficient controls
Maintain accurate and organized financial records and ensure data integrity across all accounting functions
Leadership and Team management
Provide leadership, oversight and direction to the accounting and finance team
Promote and foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional development and accountability
Mentor, train, and develop staff to enhance skills and capability
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a CPA license
5-10 years of experience as a financial controller
Telecom Experience
Tax knowledge
“Hands On” accounting experience in billing, revenue recognition, fixed assets, Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables· Broad Accounting managerial experience
Public Accounting Experience
Experience leading external and/or internal audits
Proficiency utilizing financial/accounting systems and reporting packages
Experience working with Private Equity owners
Other Skills/Abilities
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Tactical and prepared to get hands on and involved
Strategically minded and focused on extracting and correlating financial figures to help the business make relevant decisions, which are closely aligned with its strategic outcomes
Superior written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
Good organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Strong understanding of Income Statements, Balance Sheets and Statement of Cash Flow
Proficiency utilizing financial/accounting systems (NetSuite [MA1] experience would be preferred but not required) and reporting packages
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
