Click hereto see a video from the division! General description The Comptroller’s office is seeking a Senior Revenue Estimator in the Revenue Estimating division. The work involves directing and performing highly advanced (senior-level) research and data analysis to evaluate and forecast property tax values and revenue. Plans, coordinates and conducts the analysis of economic and fiscal issues. Ensures analyses are consistent with the state’s constitution and statutes, agency rules, and local restrictions. Applies statistical modeling techniques to research activities. Develops, maintains and queries databases. Writes articles, and generates spreadsheets and presentations associated with research and analysis duties. Communicates, in writing and verbally, the results of this work. Plans, assigns, and/or monitors the work of others. Works under minimal supervision by division management with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The candidate will learn new concepts quickly and apply knowledge appropriately in highly active environment and changing circumstances. This position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements may change at any time as business necessitates. Qualifications - External Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree is required Ten (10) years of experience in research and planning Three (3) years of experience related to property tax administration Preferred Qualifications Degree major in economics, finance or a similar discipline Graduate degree in economics, finance or a similar discipline Experience evaluating and forecasting state revenue sources Experience in economics and state government public finance issues In this role you will have: Knowledge of: The property appraisal and property tax industry, including real estate markets appraisal activity Statutes and administrative rules related to the state’s property taxes and related revenue sources Texas laws and regulations related to the state budgeting process The Texas legislative process Public finance issues and tax analyses, to include the production of revenue estimates and legislative fiscal notes Research methods and principles Quantitative economics, econometrics, and statistics Database creation, management, and manipulation Computer programming Skill in: Managing work time efficiently in order to complete multiple assignments within designated time periods Using a personal computer with Microsoft office software; specialized job-related applications Effectively conveying information and encouraging an exchange of ideas Identifying, defining and solving problems Ability to: Plan, organize and conduct research projects Interpret statistical and economic data, charts and tables Formulate, evaluate and revise research hypotheses Improvise and adapt to rapidly changing situations Work with others to achieve a common goal Adjust to changing workplace demands Meet the needs and expectations of internal and external customers Effectively demonstrate skill and ability to perform the specific job duties and tasks as defined by a job description Be dependable, meet deadlines and produce high-quality work Veterans: To receive veteran's preference a copy of your DD214 (Member 4) is required.
