About this role
We are seeking an
Assistant Project Manager to support the planning, scheduling, and coordination of electrical construction projects. This role involves assisting in keeping projects on track while upholding quality and fostering teamwork. Strong organizational skills are essential.
This role reports to the Project Manager and will work closely with Project Admins, General Foremen, and Foremen.
What you'll do
Pre-construction Support:
- Assist in reviewing project documents and schedules.
- Support assessments of labor, materials, and vendor requirements.
- Help establish production targets and contribute to team coordination.
Cost Assistance:
- Track job costs and assist in reconciling labor budgets.
- Support the processing of change orders, purchase orders, and vendor/subcontractor invoices.
- Provide input on cost projections and billing preparation.
Project Coordination:
- Assist in procuring resources and updating project timelines.
- Communicate updates between clients, teams, and field personnel.
- Help coordinate subcontractor schedules and on-site deliveries.
Documentation Support:
- Maintain and update project logs, including RFIs and submittals.
- Ensure accurate documentation for change orders and related project records.
What you'll bring
Qualifications
- 2+ years of construction project management experience in a related industry, such as electrical, heavy civil, commercial, telecommunications, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
- Prior field experience (electrician, construction worker, etc.) is preferred
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams and written specifications
- OSHA 30 training is preferred, OSHA 500 is better
- Ability to communicate effectively with all personnel involved in a project
- Computer software proficiency including Microsoft Office and Outlook
Additional Requirements
- The working hours are 45 – 50 hours a week, Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm
- A strong willingness to learn the electrical construction industry
- Networking, business development, and customer service activities which support the sales process overall
- Positively contributing to safety processes and culture
- Other duties as assigned
