The Opportunity

In this role, you will manage the a large scope of the organizations financial operations, including preparation of the Annual financial report, Single Audit compliance, year-end close, treasury oversight, general day to day accounting functions. You’ll lead internal and external audit processes, strengthen internal controls, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations — all while supporting the organizations goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation and submission of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and Single Audit.
  • Manage external audit relationships: planning, task assignment, and coordination across teams.
  • Oversee treasury functions, accounts receivable, and journal entry processes.
  • Ensure timely compliance with State of Colorado and federal financial reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and improve the district’s financial internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Research and implement new governmental accounting standards and practices.
  • Manage ERP financial systems and data integrity; Oracle experience is a plus.
  • Supervise and mentor a high-performing financial operations team.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (required).
  • CPA certification (required).
  • Minimum of 7 years in accounting, with experience in CPA firms, public sector, or governmental accounting.
  • Prior supervisory experience in leading and developing teams.
  • Expertise in governmental accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with large-scale ERP systems.
  • Skilled in managing complex financial audits and reporting processes.
  • Highly strategic, detail-oriented, and proactive with exceptional leadership and communication skills.
