If businesses sell goods, products, or services to customers or clients on site, they’ll almost always need a cashier who can process payments in a timely, orderly, and accurate manner. If you’re currently searching for a cashier position, a professional resume like the sample template will help you get the attention of hiring managers while also demonstrating your qualifications.

Why use this cashier resume example?

Unlike most professional resumes, the cashier resume template shown below doesn’t contain sections for listing key skills, college degrees, or licenses and certifications. The reason for this is that most cashier positions don’t have hard educational requirements. Hiring managers in search of new cashiers are more interested in employees with practical experience and the right mentality for the job.

Cashiers need to know how to count money and make change, operate registers and card readers, and process receipts and returns. They also need to be patient with difficult customers, stay focused and adaptable in stressful situations, and maintain  integrity when handling large sums of money. The two main parts of this resume, the qualifications summary and professional experience section, have formats designed to showcase these qualities and others.

How to write a great cashier resume

When using the cashier resume template, start by making sure you add in your name and current contact information. For the qualifications summary, write a brief paragraph that describes your history as a cashier and the benefits you brought to your previous roles. In the bullet points below the paragraph, list key cashier skills you’ve mastered. If you know how to operate specific transactional software or hardware, you should also list those proficiencies.

In the professional experience section, list all your past and present cashier jobs in order, starting with the most  recent position. In each job entry, list your job title, employer, and work location. Only list employment dates for positions that are no more than 10 years old.  Next, describe each job’s daily responsibilities in a brief paragraph and highlight how you used your skills to help colleagues and satisfy customers. Lastly, list promotions, awards, or other key accomplishments in the bullet points below.
