The VP, National Field Claims is primarily responsible for oversight and supervision of claims staff detailed with MPCI, Private Product and/or Named Peril claims, while providing guidance and support for Field Claims and other departments. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, oversight of Field Claim operations and training, providing guidance to the National Field Claims personnel, RCMs and Legal department when there are questions regarding policy and procedure (including controversial, disputed and denied claims), providing assistance and input to IT in developing and maintaining a claim system, providing a forecast for National Field Claims and supervision of the National Field Claims personnel.

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with the adjusters, ACSs, RCMs and other departments (Accounting, Adjuster Services, Claim Auditors, Compliance, Fleet, HR, Legal, Underwriting, etc.) to ensure open and effective communications between departments in order to process claims efficiently and correctly.
  • Monitor Loss Adjustment Expenses (LAE) to assure regions are effectively managing expenses.
  • Maintain a strong competency of the MPCI, Private Product and Named Peril claims and policy systems, including updates and changes.
  • Provide guidance to National Field Claims personnel, RCMs and the Legal department; following regulatory and company rules, policies and procedures – MPCI, Private Products and/or Named Peril.
  • Serve as a resource and provide guidance for controversial/disputed/denied claims, including development of the structure and personnel to process these claims.
  • Develop, maintain, and provide oversight to an adjuster training team for MPCI, Private Product and Named Peril claims.
  • Develop an effective structure and process to ensure effective communication between National Field Claims personnel, adjusting staff and IT to identify potential system improvements, bugs which need to be fixed and updates due to changes in the policy or procedure.
  • Provide claims data and information to the National Field Claims team, RCMs and other departments, as needed.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and Service Standards, working with National Field Claims personnel and the RCMs.
  • Provide an annual forecast for the National Field Claims team.
  • Work with other SI departments (Internal Audit) as needed to provide requested claims workflow and data.
  • Exhibit qualities consistent with company philosophies, to ensure exemplary levels of service to all parties.

Position Requirements

Education

Required – High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent training and work experience.

Experience

Preferred – bachelor’s degree in business, management, or agriculture.

Required – 7+ years of crop insurance claim experience showing proven professional work.

Preferred – 7+ years of supervisory/management experience.

License/Certification

Required – Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record to meet company requirements.

Required – Licensing and CAPP certification in accordance with FCIC and State requirements.

Physical Demands & Requirements

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Ability to stand or sit constantly/continuously.

Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.

Environmental Conditions

The work environment described here are meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

Travel, up to 50% (dependent on weather events throughout the crop year).
