Supporting the United Nations Association of Australia Young Professionals (YP) team in Queensland, the QLD Events and Programs Manager is responsible for managing events and programs in QLD. In this role, the individual will be responsible for developing a range of events and programs in line with national YP priorities, with a particular emphasis on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Note: This is a voluntary role, and a commitment of around 5 hours per week is expected, worked flexibly, with some attendance at evening meetings and events required as needed.

In this role you will be coordinating strategic events throughout the year including promotions, venue hire and sourcing speakers. Developing and implementing programs to engage with young professionals, including in the areas of mentoring and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Develop a local events calendar in line with the YP national events calendar;
• Manage volunteers responsible for event coordination activities;
• Coordinate and lead on all aspects of events;
• Ensure smooth delivery of events with project partners and speakers
• Design and implement local programs;
• Build relationships and manage diverse stakeholders of varying experience, age and background;
• Liaise with the YP National Events to ensure collaboration across the country;
• Collaborate with Events and Programs Managers in other States and Territories;
• Attend (or delegate) all National Events and Programs Meetings.

Selection Criteria

• Experience with event and project management;
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organisational skills;
• Experience managing stakeholders, for example team members or volunteers;
• Experience working or volunteering in the international development / humanitarian / social justice community (ideal, but not essential);
• An understanding of the UN goals, ideals and mission;
• A commitment to furthering positive social change in the community to advance goals of the UN;
• Time to volunteer
