Position Summary
The role of a Mechanical Engineering Intern is to support the design of gas turbine systems, including the turbine tube oil system, hydraulic system, air filtration system and others. This individual will review drawings, create engineering specifications, and assist with project-specific requirement, such as CRN and -40°F ambient temperature.
Internship Duration: June 2025-August 2025
Position Responsibilities
- Communicate with suppliers to identify suitable equipment replacements that meet Canadian and European project-specific requirements, including CSA, CRN, and -40°F ambient temperature.
- Create engineering specifications for custom (non-off-the-shelf) equipment.
- Review fabrication and assembly drawings for LM6000 projects based on NCR/ECRN.
- Work with the Mechanical Engineers to capture redlines and create work instructions.
Required Qualifications
- Sophomore or higher with at least one year of coursework enrolled in Engineering with an interest in Gas Turbine systems.
- Must read, write and speak fluent English.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite programs.
- US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
- Successful candidates will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Desired Qualifications
- Completed coursework in mechanical engineering, including Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Finite Element Method.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical fabrication/assembly drawings and technical manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve issues logically and effectively.
- Fundamental knowledge of instrumentation, such as pressure transmitters, RTD, solenoid valves.
- Experience with industrial codes, including UL, CSA and CRN.
