Company headquarters are in the West Houston/Spring Valley area. Job Summary: The Business Unit Controller will serve as an integral team member within the Company, overseeing financial functions, planning, and reporting. This role will act as a bridge between the operations and finance teams, ensuring alignment and driving financial performance while supporting strategic decision-making. The role reports to the Senior Controller, a seasoned Controller with 40+ years of experience, and will be part of the existing finance team consisting of four accountants and an accounts payable team of five. Key Responsibilities: Serve as a liaison between operations and finance capitalizing on the benefits derived from the CMiC ERP system. Assist operations in the development and execution of financial strategies of the division in line with the overall strategies of the Company. Offer insightful analysis to aid in business decisions and strategic initiatives. Monitor financial performance for the divisions by measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances. Advise the operations team on how to increase revenue and reduce costs. Propose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives are attained. Extract sales and cost data from the CMiC ERP system and prepare meaningful, value–added operational analysis and reporting for operations to manage and grow their divisions. Track and evaluate project costs, identify variances, and collaborate with project managers to implement corrective measures. Ensure precise cost allocation and reporting. Prepare monthly division reports with analysis. Develop and maintain divisional cash forecast reporting. Assist with strategic planning and with developing the annual budget, forecasts, and long-term financial plans. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred. A firm understanding of Percentage of Completion accounting and revenue recognition. Construction Job/Project Cost Accounting and Financial Reporting experience At least 5-7 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the construction or heavy civil industry. Proven expertise in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems. MS Office Proficiency with Excel, Word and Outlook Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization. High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Pluses: CMiC Construction Accounting Software experience.
