UI Developer - Design System, you will play a pivotal role in
building, maintaining, and evolving our design system, ensuring that designers and engineers can create world-class, cohesive user experiences efficiently. You'll work closely with UX designers and front-end engineers to develop and implement components that are
accessible, performant, and reusable across the entire product ecosystem.
What will you do as a UI Developer for the Design System at Tessell?
- Develop & Maintain UI Components – Build robust, scalable, and accessible UI components in collaboration with designers and engineers, ensuring they align with Tessell's design language and brand guidelines.
- Ensure Consistency & Reusability – Develop and document reusable UI patterns, standardizing interactions, typography, color, motion, and layouts across the product suite.
- Bridge Design & Development – Translate high-fidelity design concepts into responsive, high-performance, and pixel-perfect UI components that work seamlessly across platforms.
- Improve Accessibility & Performance – Implement and advocate for WCAG compliance and performance best practices to ensure our design system supports a wide range of users.
- Collaborate Across Teams – Work closely with product designers, engineers, and stakeholders to identify gaps, improve workflows, and ensure seamless adoption of the design system.
- Drive Innovation in Frontend Development – Stay up to date with the latest trends in UI development, frontend frameworks, and tooling, helping elevate the design system's technical capabilities.

What skills & expertise are we looking for?
- Expertise in UI Development: Strong proficiency in React (preferred), Vue, or Angular, with a deep understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and CSS-in-JS solutions.
- Design System Experience: Hands-on experience building, maintaining, and scaling design systems for web applications.
- Component-Driven Development: Experience with tools like Storybook for developing, testing, and documenting UI components.
- CSS Mastery: Strong understanding of CSS methodologies (BEM, CSS Modules, Tailwind, Styled Components, etc.), responsive design, and animations.
- Accessibility & Performance: Strong knowledge of ARIA roles, WCAG compliance, and frontend performance optimization techniques.
- Version Control & CI/CD: Experience with Git, automated testing, and CI/CD workflows for frontend development.
- Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work closely with designers and developers, translating design concepts into fully functional UI components.
Your Profile Would Stand Out If You Have:
- Experience working in SaaS, enterprise, or developer-focused products.
- Knowledge of frontend performance profiling and optimization techniques.
- Experience working with Figma, Tokens Studio, or other design system tools.
- Contributions to open-source design system projects or prior experience working on an internal UI framework.
- Passion for building scalable, maintainable, and accessible design systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 - 6 years of experience in frontend development, with at least 1 year focused on design systems or UI frameworks.
- A strong portfolio or GitHub repository showcasing UI component work and design system contributions.
