Our work depends on an IT Systems Administrator - Systems Monitoring joining our team to provide continuous monitoring of our organization's network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This role involves proactively identifying and addressing network issues, escalating critical problems, and collaborating with other IT teams to maintain network health. The ideal candidate possesses an understanding of networking concepts, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment for the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration. HOW AN IT SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR- SYSTEMS MONITORING WILL MAKE AN IMPACT * Continuously monitor network devices, servers, and communication links using network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG) * Proactively identify network performance issues, bottlenecks, and anomalies. * Monitor system logs, error messages, and alerts to detect potential problems. * Develop, maintain, and provision operational reports and dashboards that provide status of operational activities, production issues and key operational metrics * Identifies the means to streamline business processes, reduce costs, and improve organizational efficiency. * Work closely with other IT teams, including system administrators, security engineers, and help desk staff. * Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders regarding network issues and status updates. * Participate in team meetings and contribute to knowledge sharing. * Maintain accurate documentation of procedures and monitoring processes WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED: * Education: Bachelor's Degree (Substitutions will be based on additional years of experience) * Required Experience: 5+ years of related experience * Required Technical Skills: Data Analysis, Dashboards and Reporting, Data Models, Systems Monitoring * Security Clearance Level: DOE Q or TS * Required Skills and Abilities: Written and Oral Communication; Organization, Problem Solving, Communication, and Teamwork. * Location: Germantown, MD * US Citizenship Required * Subject to random drug screening GDIT IS YOUR PLACE: * 401K with company match * Comprehensive health and wellness packages * Internal mobility team dedicated to helping you own your career * Professional growth opportunities including paid education and certifications * Cutting-edge technology you can learn from * Rest and recharge with paid vacation and holidays #WeAreGDIT #dataanalyst #nnsaitops The likely salary range for this position is $63,750 - $86,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
