Position Summary

The Systems Administrator will report directly to the Director of ITS Infrastructure Operations. This role is responsible for high-level administration, analysis, design, evaluation, standardization, implementation, and maintenance of client/server-based network operating systems, services, servers, and associated network server hardware and software. The Systems Administrator will support and maintain the critical infrastructure and systems of Central New Mexico Community College’s (CNM) ITS environment, with a focus on technologies such as Microsoft Entra, Azure, Active Directory (AD), Intune, and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installs, configures, and maintains hardware and software on servers to provide a stable and secure Microsoft-based computing environment; sets up, configures, and maintains multiple servers, applications, and cloud services.
  • Maintains and monitors the health and performance of operating systems, servers, and enterprise applications; administers tools to ensure system integrity and availability.
  • Administers and supports Microsoft Entra, Azure services, and Active Directory (AD) environments to ensure secure identity management, resource access, and directory services.
  • Manages endpoint management platforms, including Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), for device deployment, patching, compliance, and inventory.
  • Researches, installs, and tests software updates and patches for supported applications and operating systems.
  • Uses system diagnostic tools and Microsoft management utilities to troubleshoot server, endpoint, and application issues; determines and resolves system problems and coordinates vendor support as needed.
  • Designs, plans, configures, and maintains standardized server, workstation, and cloud service environments to support CNM’s operational needs.
  • Responds to service requests, incident tickets, and customer inquiries related to system administration issues, ensuring timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborates closely with network, security, and virtualization teams to ensure cross-platform compatibility, security standards, and operational efficiency.
  • Researches new technologies; presents recommendations on hardware, software, and cloud service enhancements; and provides technical guidance to ensure alignment with CNM’s infrastructure strategy.
  • Investigates, plans, and tests new releases of server operating systems, endpoint management tools, and enterprise software updates.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) or related industry
  • OR
  • Associate’s Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) or related industry
  • AND
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of related experience
  • OR
  • A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements of the position
