Our client based in Eight Mile Plains, Brisbane is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented System Tester to join their team to play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of their software solutions.


Operating within a Java-based environment, this role will see you collaborating closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to validate system functionality, identify defects, and recommend improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyse functional and technical specifications to thoroughly understand system requirements within a Java-based development environment.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Conduct manual testing across web applications, APIs, and back-end components — ensuring all aspects of the system meet business and technical expectations.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using established defect management tools, collaborating closely with developers to ensure effective resolution.
  • Validate defect fixes and enhancements through targeted retesting and broader regression testing.
  • Configure and maintain test environments and prepare test data to simulate real-world scenarios.
  • Participate in requirement and design reviews, contributing a quality and risk perspective
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive test documentation to ensure traceability and auditability.
  • Continuously assess and recommend improvements to testing processes and tools, particularly within the context of Java-based systems.


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience as a System Tester or Software Tester.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline will be an advantage.
  • Experience testing applications within a Java-based environment (understanding of common Java frameworks and architectures is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and various testing methodologies (functional, system, integration, regression).
  • Proven ability to design, document, and execute test plans and test cases tailored to Java application architectures.
  • Hands-on experience in manual testing; familiarity with test automation tools for Java environments (e.g., Selenium, JUnit) is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using testing and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, or equivalent).
  • Full working rights. Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia.
