Arcticom, LLC, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Subject Matter Expert for the NBG Support Center in Lexington, KY.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist National Guard CBRN Response Enterprise (CRE) organizations in performing reliability, maintainability, and availability analyses on all assigned Joint Mission Essential Equipment Listing (JMEEL) equipment.
  • Conduct standard and non-standard tasks on equipment, including operation, repair, and temporary emergency modifications to maintain operability at a CBRN training event or incident response. Equipment includes but is not limited to, Mass Decontamination System trailer, Immediate Response Technology/TVI decontamination corridors (tents), flash heaters, Lightweight Inflatable Decontamination System (LIDS), Portable Environmental Control Units (ECU), portable power generators, hydraulic power generators, miscellaneous hydraulic and electrical power tools, and Emergency Tracking Assistant System (ETAS).
  • Provide prompt and effective repairs and required calibration to team equipment while on site in support of a CBRN training event or during an incident response.
  • Attend New Equipment Training (NET) for all new JMEEL approved equipment.
  • Evaluate newly purchased equipment to ensure operational and functional mission requirements can be met. Report shortcomings to leadership.
  • Coordinate individual travel for scheduled training or mission support events.
  • Assist other departments as required in determining and identifying component lists and part numbers for fielding of initial equipment to the supported teams.
  • Must be willing to travel throughout the U.S. multiple times a year. Travel may occasionally be concurrent.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications (applies to both this section and KSAO’s)

  • Associate’s degree and or Technical Certificate or 2 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be organized and possess a great attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be available to travel.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of the National Guard Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) mission and operations of the various CBRN organizations supported by the CoMSupCen.
  • Knowledgeable and familiar with CBRN methods and procedures.
  • Basic understanding of military terminology.
  • Experience in public speaking with the ability to address both civilian and military personnel at all levels.
  • The ability to obtain a working understanding of electrical systems, plumbing systems, mechanical systems, heating and air conditioning systems, and small gas/diesel generators.
  • The ability to service and perform repairs on these systems and other miscellaneous mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of common hand tools used in servicing miscellaneous mechanical equipment and small engines.
  • Knowledge of the proper use and care of typical shop personal protective equipment (PPE)

Preferred

  • Mechanical, plumbing, or electrical maintenance background with safety emphasis.
  • Prior Military experience.
  • Military or Civilian CBRN experience.

Necessary Physical Requirements

  • Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Some lifting is required, must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted and operate equipment such as a forklift and other warehouse material movement equipment.
  • Must be able to work indoors or outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Job is performed in multiple settings and environments.

  • While at home station, working conditions are mostly in an indoor warehouse/maintenance facility. Some job duties require work to be performed outside.
  • Occasionally, duties are in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and require use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system.
  • While on a support assignment, most duties will be performed outside in various weather conditions.
  • May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail.
  • Frequent Travel is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • No supervisory responsibilities.

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
