Position Overview
The University of Kansas Student Senate is the primary advocate for students on campus. As one of higher education's finest models of self-governance, 65 senators and 10 executive staff members work together to allocate about $25 million in student fees in ways that best serve students. Student Senate also represents the KU student voice within University, State, and National Governance, working to address and develop policy in students' best interests.
Job Description
40% - The Fund Development Director shall serve as the Fund Manager for the Community Development Fund, Campus Safety Fund, and the Renewable Energy and Sustainability Fund.
20% - The Fund Development Director shall be responsible for coordinating and chairing the Educational Opportunity Fund process.
10%- The Fund Development Director shall be responsible for the oversight of all fundraising accounts initiated by Student Senate.
10% - The Fund Development Director will meet with the KU Alumni Association and KU Endowment on a regular basis to develop strategic plans to reach out to Student Senate Alumni to increase outreach efforts.
10% - The Fund Development Director shall coordinate monthly meetings with the Chairs of the Community Development Fund, Campus Safety Fund, and the Renewable Energy and Sustainability Fund to review allocations and brainstorm opportunities where Senate can increase utilizations for the funds.
10% - The Fund Development Director shall meet with the Chief of Staff on a monthly basis to review fundraising plans.
Required Qualifications
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

- Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
- This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
