Position Overview
The University of Kansas Student Senate is the primary advocate for students on campus. As one of higher education's finest models of self-governance, 65 senators and 10 executive staff members work together to allocate about $25 million in student fees in ways that best serve students. Student Senate also represents the KU student voice within University, State, and National Governance, working to address and develop policy in students' best interests.
Job Description
35% - The Coordinator of Staff, under supervision of the Student Body President and Student Body Vice President, shall be responsible for the day-to-day operations and execution of responsibilities of the Cabinet.
30% - Be responsible for enforcement of the Office Policy Manual and the Cabinet accountability system proposed by the Student Body President in consultation with the Student Body Vice President and Chief of Staff.
25% - Act as a liaison between the Cabinet and the Student Councils or ad hoc (temporary) committees of the Student Senate and shall be responsible for monitoring these entities.
10% - Be responsible for other tasks as may be assigned by the Student Senate Constitution, the Student Body President, the Student Executive Council, or the Student’s Assembly.
Required Qualifications
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

- Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
- This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
