Dunaway is a professional services firm established in 1956, with offices in Fort Worth, Austin, Dallas, Farmersville, Houston, Midland, and San Antonio. We offer civil and structural engineering, planning + landscape architecture, survey, and construction inspection services to public and private clients throughout Texas.
As a multi-discipline firm with a staff of over 350+ positioned in our eight offices across the state of Texas – our firm’s size, location, and reputation allows us to provide local, specialized knowledge to each project and each client that we serve.

What You’ll Be Doing
Once selected to join our team, you will:
- Process field data, plot worksheets, and calculations for different types of surveys.
- Determine methods for establishing or reestablishing survey control and maintain accurate records.
- Reduce field notes, travers adjustments, set up folders and deed sketches.
- Manage and prioritize multiple survey tasks and projects.
- Perform standard survey practices and provide updates to Project Surveyor and Project Manager for QA/QC.
- Communicate and coordinate with Project Surveyors and Managers to ensure the delivery of complete, timely, and precise products.
- Coordinate with external clients on Projects.
- Mentor and train other Survey Technicians and Survey Party Chiefs in all aspects of the business
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center software, and MS Office (Word, Excel)
Skills
- Solid documentation skills (boundary analysis and decisions)
- Proficient state plane coordinates systems and geodetic calculations
- Complete multiple assignments successfully through effective multi-tasking and prioritizing
- High attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective problem solving/analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide advanced level expertise
- Ability to work with a team or independently as needed
- Solid knowledge of surveying principals and methods
- Solid knowledge of proper retracement of land boundaries
- Solid knowledge of required field survey equipment
Experience
- 1-2 years’ experience as a Survey Party Chief.
- 10-12 years of total Survey experience
- 5+ years’ experience with computer-aided drafting, specifically with Civil 3D software.
Education
- Associate Degree in Surveying or allied discipline.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSE
- Surveyor-in-Training Certification (SIT)
