Job Description

This position conducts work directly related to management or general business operations in an organization or functional area. The work requires advanced knowledge gained from a prolonged course of specialized instruction, experience, and expertise. The position includes work requiring the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

The Senior Project Automation Specialist provides local project support for project automation technology used. The technical specialist provides any end user project support, project configuration, or special project modifications required.

  • Provide technical configuration project and/or office support for technology in conjunction with the office Automation Manager
  • May manage the department as well as develop and manage the office’s Project Automation Specialists (PAS)
  • Contribute to, promote, and ensure effective knowledge sharing behaviors in the use of Fluor’s knowledge management portals and communities
  • Provide direction and guidance for Project Automation Specialists providing configuration and office support for technology
  • Work with the Project Information Manager (PIM) to analyze any technical implementation or configuration issues for technology
  • Analyze and evaluate technology support and implementation requirements
  • Ensure technical data integrity and backup processes and technologies are implemented per best practices
  • May develop and manage departmental budgets (as required)
  • Provide talent development opportunities and manage succession plans for key resources
  • Provide client or project presentations as requested
  • Provide end user office support, project setup, and configuration or special project modifications required for the automation technology utilized
  • Assist Information Technology (IT) in evaluating technology impact to Fluor infrastructure and systems
  • Manage testing and validation of technology solutions for which the Project Automation Specialist is responsible/qualified
  • Protect Fluor’s intellectual property and confidentiality of information
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
  • Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
  • Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job
  • May need to travel to attend to business related matters
  • Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twelve (12) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to thirteen (16) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering or computer science is preferred or equivalent technical experience
  • Twelve (12) years of experience in project, Information Technology or Automation
  • Good knowledge of Information Technology in:
  • Desktop/laptop environment and general office tools
  • Infrastructure (Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), telecommunications, etc.)
  • Electronic security and governance
  • Electronic communications
  • Network operations and support
  • Software development, implementation, and support
  • Knowledge of Automation technology and systems integration including:
  • Good knowledge of the Fluor MasterPlant™ solutions
  • Good knowledge of the tool integration capabilities and discipline integration needs
  • Good knowledge of the automation technologies
  • Vendor certification in Automation/Information Technology/Information Management technologies the position supports (when available)

Salary Range

118,500 to 213,500

Market Rate

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
