As a member of the IAS Engineering Leadership Team, you will be a pivotal player in shaping and defining how SNC develops technical solutions for aerospace and defense proposals/programs. You will work with Program Teams and various functional organizations to define aircraft and systems level architectures that meet customer requirements. This includes facilitating the start-up and guidance for new groups to jump-start their systems engineering and aircraft architecture journey.
Additionally, the Systems Engineering Technical SME will report directly to the Sr Chief Engineer in this role and will work closely with Chief Engineers and Functional Engineering Managers to develop technical roadmaps, best practices, business proposals and solutions/plans for program execution, and business area execution strategy related to Systems Engineering. Finally, the Systems Engineering Technical SME will represent SNC and IAS with customer and industry communities by participating and volunteering in customer engagements and efforts to advance SNC interests across industry.
Success looks like:
Ability to support IAS program teams and apply systems engineering principles over the entire life cycle of products from concept definition, system definition, system realization, to system deployment and use in accordance with the SNC & DOD strategies.
Successfully working with other Technical SMEs and Functional Managers to mature and define best practices in the areas of processes, procedures, and tools related to Systems Engineering.
Significant experience with DOD customer needs and how to develop and integrate solutions into multiple types of military and commercial aircraft.
Understanding of Integrated Development Environments as used by multi-disciplines within both traditional systems engineering and Model-Based Engineering activities.
Presenting in and/or supporting program independent reviews, peer reviews, and gate reviews to define aircraft and systems architectures, identify/mitigate risks, and guide execution teams on developing solutions that meet customer needs.
Proposal generation and business development activities to include generation of technical and cost volumes, and participation in red team reviews.
Providing technical mentoring of Chief Engineers, Project Engineers, and Systems Engineers on aircraft and systems architectures that meet DOD and commercial customer needs.
Establishing and leveraging relationships across SNC business areas and within industry.
Understanding of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) and its implementation including OMS, UCI, FACE, etc.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor's of Science degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline and 16 or more years of relevant experience.
Higher education may substitute for relevant experience.
Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
Progressive Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
Thorough understanding of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles.
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to Systems Engineering.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
Demonstrated leadership of new business initiatives, identification and execution of enterprise development activities and transition to production.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, reasoning and decision-making abilities.
Experience communicating and presenting to all levels of the organization including senior executive leadership and customers.
Experience with Systems Engineering tools and various architecture frameworks, and how to effectively integrate into program execution.
Possesses an expert-level knowledge of engineering/design principles.

Qualifications We Prefer:
Advanced knowledge of industry standard systems engineering design principles, to include, but not limited to architecture, requirements management, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).
Demonstrated capability in requirements management and system modelling tools such as DOORS, Jama, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB.
Familiarity with emerging systems engineering standards such as SysML 2.0, OpenMBEE, OpenCAESAR, Architecture Description Language (ADL), etc. coupled with the knowledge to effectively incorporate into new program proposals and execution as well as finding opportunities to incorporate into existing programs to improve program performance.
Exposure to Government Reference Architectures (GRA) and specified modeling-based approaches, standards and profiles.
Experience or certification in INCOSE standards.
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
Progressive experience leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact trade studies and other measures.
Advanced experience with establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM).
Excellent interpersonal skills, highly professional, diplomatic, demonstrated executive-level presence, outstanding stewardship, and relationship building skills.
Served as an advisor or key contributor on large complex projects, with the accountability to ensure successful execution of the program plan.
Nationally recognized SME and highly respected within the customer communities.
Participates in industry community for respective area of expertise, such as relevant associates, committees, conferences, publications, standards development, etc.
Experience in career development of technical staff through training and mentorship.
Develops advanced technological ideas and innovative solutions for product development.
Understanding and knowledge of Agile (SCRUM) techniques and activities.
Experience supporting DOD programs and customers.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $189,761.74 - $260,922.39. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
