Position Summary: The Sr. Manufacturing Fixture Design Engineer will play a crucial role within the R&D organization, contributing significantly to the development of the next-generation platform. This position involves transitioning complex electro-mechanical assemblies from prototype to verification testing and pilot builds, in close collaboration with manufacturing engineering. Ideal candidates will have experience in developing build and test fixtures for intricate electro-mechanical medical devices and disposables, along with a comprehensive understanding of mechanical design, DFA/DFM, design verification testing, process validation, and transfer to manufacturing within a regulated medical device development environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as a key team member focused on the design readiness of a robotic surgical platform.
* Design and develop production build and test fixtures for complex electromechanical sub-systems intended for production volumes.
* Create fixture requirements, design descriptions, and documentation for use and preventive maintenance.
* Perform fixture qualifications and verifications in collaboration with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering.
* Support the development of assembly and test processes for capital equipment and disposables.
* Develop fixtures and tests for component inspection.
* Contribute to various multi-disciplinary technical and process improvement projects of varying sizes and scopes.
* Create engineering change orders for the release of fixtures and tooling documentation.
* Manage and communicate assigned projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
* 8+ years of electromechanical and consumable R&D engineering experience, with at least 5 years in the medical device industry.
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Robotics, or Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
* Strong proficiency in Solidworks/PDM.
* Deep understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly), and DFT (Design for Testing).
* Experience in the design, qualification, and verification of fixtures for medical device assembly and testing.
* Expertise in electromechanical system development is highly desired.
* Experience in developing Simulink-based fixtures, with proficiency in Simulink/LabVIEW preferred.
* Previous experience in design transfer and new product introduction.
* Skilled in fixture and process validation.
* Familiarity with statistical tools and software such as Minitab is desired.
* Ability to execute assigned projects and duties with minimal supervision.
* Excellent documentation and communication skills.
* Proficiency in using MS Office.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $110.00/hr.
