Ultimate Staffing is currently seeking a Sr. Industrial Engineer to join a client in Grapevine, TX. The role is with a computer hardware manufacturing company. This is a full-time, direct hire role. The position is 100% onsite.
Position Summary:
The Senior Industrial Engineer plays a critical role in advancing operational efficiency and driving continuous improvement within our computer hardware manufacturing operations. This position focuses on optimizing production workflows, reducing cycle times, improving yield, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards unique to high-precision electronics manufacturing. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in industrial engineering with specific experience in the fast-paced, highly technical environment of hardware production.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Process Optimization
- Analyze assembly and testing processes for PCBs, semiconductors, and finished hardware components to identify inefficiencies and waste.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma strategies to improve production throughput, reduce defects, and minimize downtime.
- Drive improvements in SMT (surface-mount technology), cleanroom processes, and ESD-sensitive workflows.
Project & Operations Management
- Lead cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing automation, improving material handling, and streamlining product flow in cleanroom and non-cleanroom environments.
- Collaborate with teams across R&D, production, quality, and supply chain to scale operations and support new product introductions (NPIs).
- Develop comprehensive project plans, set performance metrics, and ensure delivery within scope and budget.
Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring
- Use statistical process control (SPC), failure mode analysis (FMEA), and root cause analysis to guide operational improvements.
- Analyze production data to monitor performance, reduce rework/scrap, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop dashboards and reports to communicate insights and recommendations to leadership.
Facility & Equipment Design
- Design optimal layouts for high-tech manufacturing floors including ESD-safe workstations, test benches, and automated assembly lines.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for consistency and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO 9001, IPC standards).
- Lead equipment selection and capacity planning efforts in collaboration with engineering and procurement teams.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, training staff in lean tools and electronics manufacturing best practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality systems, particularly in environments requiring cleanroom protocol or ESD controls.
- Support audits and ensure operational readiness for industry certifications.
Cost Reduction & Efficiency
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives across labor, material usage, and energy consumption.
- Conduct ROI analysis for automation, tooling, and process changes.
- Work closely with procurement and finance teams to support value engineering and sourcing strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial engineering, with at least 3 years in electronics or computer hardware manufacturing.
- Proven experience with SMT processes, electronics assembly, and product lifecycle support in a high-tech environment.
- Proficiency in engineering tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and production simulation software.
- Advanced knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred).
- Experience with MES, ERP, and data analysis platforms (e.g., SAP, Power BI, JMP, Minitab).
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence across departments.
- Knowledge of IPC standards, ESD handling, and regulatory requirements relevant to hardware manufacturing.
