Position Summary: The Senior ElectroMechanical Design Engineer will be an integral part of the R&D organization, contributing significantly to the development of the next-generation platform that will transform healthcare. This role involves working on the development of complex electro-mechanical assemblies, from prototype to verification builds and testing within a regulated medical device development environment. Ideal candidates will have experience in developing electromechanical fixtures, authoring documentation, and establishing verification tests.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the design of complex DV fixtures, from requirements and concept generation to detailed drawings, design reviews, and print release.
* Support product-level design work as needed.
* Identify improvement opportunities in the lineup of DV fixtures.
* Assist in developing firmware and software requirements for fixtures.
* Author relevant documents related to fixture designs and DV tests.
* Perform fixture qualifications and process validation.
* Maintain disciplined test, configuration control, documentation, and configuration management processes.
* Support various multi-disciplinary technical and process improvement projects of different sizes and scopes.
* Handle vendor communications and procurement issues.
* Manage and communicate assigned projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
* 8+ years of experience in complex electromechanical system R&D environments.
* Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, or a related field.
* Experience in heavily-regulated industries such as medical devices or aerospace.
* Hands-on experience in the design, assembly, and testing of electro-mechanical systems.
* Knowledge of industry best practices for developing complex electromechanical systems.
* Familiarity with ASME V&V (Verification & Validation) 40 is a plus.
* Previous experience in design transfer and new product introduction is highly desired.
* Demonstrated proficiency in CAD, with Solidworks preferred.
* Working knowledge of DFM/A, Six Sigma, and statistical tolerance analysis.
* Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
* Working knowledge of ASME drafting standards, including GD&T (Y14.5-2018).
* Proficient in developing production and fixture documentation, including bills of material (BOMs), assembly drawings/instructions, instructions for use, calibration, and maintenance instructions.
* Experience with statistical tools and software such as Minitab is desired.
* Prior experience in fixture and process validation.
* Experience using, modifying, and programming in MATLAB Simulink or LabView is desired.
* Experience in cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership.
* Project management experience, including task timeline estimation and work breakdown structures.
* Ability to execute assigned projects and duties with minimal supervision.
* Outstanding documentation and communication skills.
* Proficiency in using MS Office.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $110.00/hr.
