Summary

As Sr. Database Engineer I, you’ll support a large-scale ADABAS/NATURAL legacy system, conduct analysis as required to accomplish the coding assignments, provide ADABAS DBA expertise, document program, data flow, and related processes, test modifications using debug tools, and work with file manipulation tools. You may also help build new databases and other ways of storing or ordering information.

What you’ll do:


•    You will be recognized as the center of competence for all matters involving the design or use of the database.•    You will be responsible for all aspects of the continued operation of the database •    You will ensure that DBMS-compatible standards are understood and observed•    You will be expected to resolve problems for the benefit of the organization as a whole.•    You will stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve our database processes


What you’ll need to succeed:



  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT related discipline or equivalent experience is required.

  • 7+ years’ experience database administration, preferably using Software AG products.

  • Administrative skill to set up and enforce the standards and procedures for using the database.

  • Technical ability to understand the factors governing hardware performance, with considerable knowledge both of the operating system software and the DBMS being used.

  • Thorough knowledge of existing and future applications; and skills to produce an efficient database design that meets the application requirements.

  • Establishing the system for controlling and administering the database environment establishing database procedures and standards; assisting in database design; educating users; selecting applications suitable for the database system; maintaining database documentation; and administering the database.

  • Strong oral and written communication as well as strong presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently but effectively with a team to accomplish team projects and solve technical problems.

Additional Compensation: This role may also be eligible for bonuses and/or additional incentives based on individual and company performance.
