Position: SAP Database Administrator

Location: 100% Remote Herndon, VA

Duration: 12+ months (W2 role)

Description:

• Maintain and administer SAP HANA databases and associated environments
• Migrate data to SAP HANA Cloud and support lifecycle management tasks
• Perform system failovers, takeovers, and periodic disaster recovery tests
• Install, configure, patch, and manage HANA systems including backups and recovery
• Monitor system health, set up alerts, and automate monitoring processes
• Analyze database performance using trace files, logs, HANA Studio, and DBA Cockpit
• Tune memory and CPU consumption, optimize resource usage
• Manage HANA security: user and role management, grant audits, and audit policy creation
• Develop workload classes, alert thresholds, and maintenance scripts
• Implement SAP HANA security measures and integrate with external systems
• Troubleshoot SQL scripts and understand database procedures, functions, and triggers
• Provide subject matter expertise in HANA high availability, backup, and recovery

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with SAP HANA
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to analyze logs and trace files to extract and interpret critical data
• Proficiency in SQL and database procedural languages (writing, debugging, optimizing queries)
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems and shell scripting
• Experience with database monitoring, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or after-hours as needed
• Hands-on experience in HANA installation, data provisioning, administration, and modeling
• Familiarity with predictive monitoring, system metrics, and proactive outage prevention
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
