SQL Database Engineer – Hybrid Cloud

ROLE SUMMARY

Seeking an experienced Microsoft SQL Database Engineer, who will maintain responsibility for the design review, implementation, and troubleshooting of MSSQL services in public and private cloud datacenters, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. This engineer will play a critical role in performance troubleshooting, major database upgrades, architecture review, and proactive performance monitoring of all company MSSQL services. The ideal candidate will further add value through database performance management, optimization, and monitoring, ensuring the health and efficiency of the database infrastructure.

KEY DUTIES

• Performance troubleshooting and deep analysis to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in SQL database queries and stored procedures impacting production performance or reliability.
• Plan and oversee SQL database upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
• Review and provide recommendations for database architecture changes, consulting with development teams to ensure best practices are followed.
• Continuously monitor database performance and health, utilizing established SQL monitoring tools to define service level baselines and threshold alerts or anomalies.
• Execute assigned work-items from a pre-prioritized backlog in an organized, efficient, and expedited fashion.
• Create and hand off knowledge base documentation, including operational runbooks, disaster recovery plans, and regulatory audit compliance evidencing to the 24/7 Operations team.
• Participate in regulatory compliance (HITRUST/SOC2) evidencing for audits.

JOB-SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & SKILLS

• 10+ years of proven experience designing and managing Microsoft SQL databases and database management systems
• 4+ years of experience in a private cloud or datacenter for an enterprise SaaS application.
• Expertise in deploying MSSQL on Windows and Linux Operating Systems is required.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills required.
• Capable of implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex environments.
• Stand-out candidates would have the following certifications and experience in their resumes:
• MCSA: SQL Database Administration (MS70-764 & MS70-765)
• MS Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300)
• MS Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)
• Experience with AKS on Windows Server (SQL Managed Instances on Windows Server)
• Experience with Azure Function or Logic App DB Integration
