Job Description

The Solution Architect is responsible for defining and assuring the solution architecture for projects and initiatives within the organization. The role involves high-level design, detailed design assurance, and supporting the development and implementation of solutions through all environments to production.

The Solution Architect explores potential solution options, evaluates their fit to business needs and enterprise architecture, and assesses feasibility, cost, risk, benefits, and ongoing support implications.

They guide vendor and product selection to ensure alignment with project needs and long-term business goals.

As a Solutions Architect, your responsibilities include:

  1. Defining, owning, and maintaining the cross-functional solution architecture, including integrations and data.
  2. Collaborating with business stakeholders, Business Analysts, Product Managers, Engineers, and Delivery teams.
  3. Analyzing options and reviewing third-party designs.
  4. Working with the Enterprise Architect to ensure alignment with IT and Business strategies, principles, standards, and enterprise architecture.
  5. Leading vendor selection processes.
  6. Assisting with planning and estimation.
  7. Ensuring solutions are delivered as designed.
  8. Challenging existing thinking and identifying improvements to architecture processes and artifacts.
  9. Maintaining high standards with minimal risk and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  10. Ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, cost-effective, and future-proof.

To succeed, you will:

  1. Have experience in omni-channel retail organizations or leading management consultancies, covering domains like Digital, POS, and Omni-Channel Order Management.
  2. Be comfortable with packaged and bespoke applications in stores, commerce, and payment & fraud areas.
  3. Communicate complex ideas clearly to senior stakeholders.
  4. Be familiar with modeling tools and techniques.
  5. Have experience with various delivery lifecycles and service delivery methods.
  6. Possess comprehensive knowledge of business, application, data, technology, and integration architecture.
  7. Quickly analyze and understand existing solutions and emerging technologies.
  8. Be a motivated, proactive, resilient self-starter with a flexible attitude.
  9. Have strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and commercial awareness.
  10. Build strong relationships and credibility, with excellent communication skills.
  11. Prioritize effectively, make confident decisions, and drive the architecture agenda while ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  12. Possess or aspire to develop line management experience.

This role requires flexibility, and responsibilities may evolve based on business needs.
