The Enterprise DevOps Section 1 team develops and supports a variety of innovative products including web applications, data visualization tools, databases and enterprise scale data analysis solutions including system integration efforts to enhance public health initiatives. Job Description And Duties
The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Information Technology Supervisor II, within the Enterprise DevOps Section 1.
The Information Technology Associate (ITA) performs a variety of recurring, well-defined tasks requiring occasional, innovative problem-solving within guidelines and a scope that may encompass one or more units, functions, or processes in multiple program areas of Client Services and Software Engineering which involves analyzing, developing, documenting, and implementing software that adheres to CDPH Enterprise requirements.
The ITA creates, enhances, and maintains information technology (IT) software solutions; gathers, documents, and reviews system requirements and specifications; develops test plans, reports, and user manuals; conducts user training; and tests, debugs, and evaluates software and hardware to make sure they are integrated well with each other. This includes, but is not limited to, operating systems, control systems, proprietary software packages, commercial off-the-shelf software, telecommunications software, and database management software. Researches, configures, and tests hardware and software to ensure seamless integration, cost-effective solutions, and improves CDPH operation.
The ITA maintains a clear understanding of all phases of the software development lifecycle methodology and IT project priorities in a multi-platform environment. This includes working with low-code and no-code platforms , workflow automation, and content management systems . The ITA demonstrates strong capabilities in data analysis, automation, and decision-making, with a proven ability to integrate these platforms into public health systems for data visualization, dashboarding, and decision support.
The ITA performs duties in the Client Services and Software Engineering domains.

Eligibility Information
If you are new to California State Service, you must take and pass the examination for this classification to be eligible for hire. Current state employees without transfer or list eligibility must also complete and pass the examination for this classification to qualify for this position.

Telework Information
This position may be eligible for telework up to three (3) days per week and is required to report in-person to the designated headquarters office location a minimum of two (2) days per week. The amount of telework permitted is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change, consistent with CDPH’s Telework Program. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquarters office subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
