Loadmaster.ai is looking for a Senior Backend Python Engineer to enhance and scale our innovative RL-based scheduling and planning platform.

Who are we?  

At loadmaster.ai, we specialise in deploying reinforcement learning (RL) to automate and optimise complex planning and scheduling processes for logistics operations at container terminals. Our solution applies RL driven automation to significantly enhance efficiency, reliability, and speed at container terminals.

Our core mission is clear yet challenging: use advanced RL AI and software engineering to streamline and automate decision-making, helping terminals operate at peak efficiency while drastically reducing complexity.

Your Challenges  

You will play a crucial role in our development process, from identifying project requirements to designing and implementing robust, scalable backend systems. As part of our team, you will collaborate closely with machine learning engineers, software developers, port consultants, and product stakeholders to create innovative solutions.

We rely on your initiative, excellent communication skills, and proactive mindset to drive key decisions in system architecture, backend integration, and data analysis pipeline development. Your innovative thinking and collaborative approach will help shape and deliver projects that have a measurable impact on real-world logistics operations.

What do we require?  

• Excellent communication, strong initiative, and a collaborative team-player mindset
• 5 to 7 years of experience in developing in Python, with deep knowledge software engineering principles
• Experience with relational (Postgres) and non relational databases and database design principles
• Proficient in FastAPI for creating efficient and scalable APIs
• Experience in infrastructure and DevOps tools (Google Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines)
• Experience in working with message brokers and caching systems (RabbitMQ, Redis)
• Hands-on experience with data analysis tools (e.g., pandas or similar libraries)
• Familiarity with simulation environments or simulators for testing complex systems
• System-level thinking and ability to design and plan large scale system development
• An interest or experience in AI, Machine Learning, and Reinforcement Learning (RL)
• Experience within the logistics industry is a plus, but not required
