Summary

Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers. The company’s R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) Inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins, and RAS Companion Inhibitors for use in combination treatment strategies. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding scientists in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.

The Opportunity:

Revolution Medicines’ Cancer Biology group is looking for a talented, creative, and motivated scientist with a strong background in biochemistry and biophysics to help drive early target discovery and hit identification for novel oncology programs. The successful applicant will join the Mechanism of Action group within Discovery Biology. They will lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams composed of medicinal chemists, protein chemists, structural biologists, and cancer biologists to validate novel therapeutic approaches for high value oncology targets. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with biochemical/biophysical techniques and interpretation, experience with early-stage discovery activities in industry, and a creative but pragmatic “fail-fast” mindset applied to new ideas. Above all, we are looking for a highly motivated team player with proven leadership capabilities to join our diverse and talented team of scientists at RevMed.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply biophysical and biochemical knowledge to help prioritize new target ideas and identify, characterize, and optimize inhibitors.
  • Participate in cross-functional target qualification efforts, including leading small teams to identify key scientific questions, design experiments, and collect data to drive decision making.
  • Propose novel, target-appropriate experimental approaches and drive the implementation of new technologies and capabilities.
  • Perform mechanistic studies as part of hit validation efforts.
  • Generate data in a timely manner and maintain detailed experimental records.
  • Regularly and effectively communicate findings at project team and company meetings.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, enzymology or related field plus minimum 8 years work experience, including 5 years relevant industry experience.
  • Highly skilled in designing, executing, and interpreting protein biochemistry or biophysics experiments in the context of drug discovery and development.
  • Proven track record of enabling discovery teams.
  • Strong command of physical chemistry (e.g. thermodynamics, kinetics) of biomolecules and mathematical analysis of biomolecular interactions.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with early discovery programs in an industry setting.
  • Approach new ideas with a flexible, creative, “fail-fast” mindset.

Preferred Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Previous experience acquiring protein-protein or protein-small molecule binding data using variety of biophysical methods such as TR-FRET, ITC, BLI, SPR, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in measuring small molecule/target binding using multiple orthogonal assays.
  • Experience interrogating protein-protein interactions and knowledge of induced proximity modalities (molecular glues, etc.)
  • Solid background in cancer biology and cancer-relevant pathways is preferred. Must have interest in oncology, although direct oncology research experience is not required.
