Job Title: Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator Consultant
Location: Hybrid (3 days on-site in Annapolis, MD and 2 days remote per week)
Contract Duration: 5 Years (07/01/2025 – 06/30/2030)
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM EST, with flexibility for after-hours, on-call, holidays, and weekend support as needed
Position Summary: AlxTel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator Consultant to manage and optimize its Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. The selected candidate will ensure system stability, performance, and security while supporting a wide range of enterprise applications. This role requires hands-on expertise in Red Hat administration, automation scripting, and a strong understanding of security and compliance best practices.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) with a valid certification number
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator
- 10+ years of experience administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems
- 15+ years of experience in the Information Technology field
Core Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain RHEL servers across development, testing, and production environments
- Perform system upgrades, patch management, and apply security hardening to ensure compliance
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to reduce downtime and optimize system efficiency
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python
- Configure and maintain Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and related ecosystem tools
- Collaborate with security teams to address vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with policies
- Maintain and optimize storage, backup, and disaster recovery systems
- Provide guidance and support to application teams on Linux-based deployments
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
- Participate in on-call support and incident resolution
- Set up Network File Servers (NFS) and mount points
- Configure cron jobs for system and application tasks
Preferred Skills & Capabilities: - Strong experience in complex, networked system environments
- Experience administering systems such as:
- vSphere-hosted RHEL servers
- PeopleSoft, Mobius, Elastic Search, Oracle OBI, and CVS
- Experience with performance tuning, load balancing, partitioning, backup/recovery, and DR
- Application development and Red Hat support experience
- Electronic imaging support
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate across all levels
- Strong leadership and user support skills
- Deep understanding of Red Hat system administration, configuration, and tuning
Work Environment:
- Hybrid: 3 days on-site at Annapolis, MD 21401; 2 days remote
- Must be able to report on-site within 24 hours when required
- Remote work from outside the United States is not allowed unless explicitly approved
- Remote location must be suitable for professional work (quiet, non-public setting)

Additional Notes:
- A two to four-week onboarding and training period will be provided
- Performance will be regularly evaluated; remote privileges can be revoked if performance declines
