Summary

The Senior Product & Business Developer will be accountable for managing the product development process for the brands they are assigned. Primary responsibilities are to maintain/create seasonal line plan, design/develop product to cost, create and establish relationships with their brands, develop a comprehensive understanding of their brand (s) strategies, owning costing, and more.

Your deep insights into brand/consumer/market behavior will steer decision making. By fully owning the development process and driving business forward, you will successfully deliver on the Madison 88 high quality standard.


Responsibilities

  • Works hand in hand with the Brand’s Product Team and our Design team in the initial trend presentation. Be able to pull out samples from the showroom (or create virtual decks) appropriate for the accounts and putting them on a line list.
  • Handles virtual presentation meetings with the Brands.
  • Able to participate in the market research of our product category and industry.
  • Be able to analyze SKU Line Plan of the brand/s being managed. Collaborate with the brands on expanding the business, grow and/or achieve SKU efficiency.
  • Handles the product development process of several accounts from sample selection process, sample/color approvals up to style adoption. Be able to analyze technical spec sheets and communicates with overseas factories for the execution of samples.
  • Works closely with Tech Design team in terms of product development process.
  • Develop trim requirements for the accounts if needed.
  • Responsibilities include maintaining strong relationships with clients and suppliers.
  • Overseeing WIP’s of proto samples for the accounts.
  • Will manage the product development calendars (sampling, pricing, color & testing approval prior adoption in production) of accounts being assigned, making sure that they are being met on time (in-line, SMU, etc).
  • Be able to analyze pricing and handle pricing negotiations by applying knowledge of cost of materials, consumption and production processes. Prepares the costing paperwork for approval and costing breakdown for submission to the buyers.
  • Oversees the lab testing requirements (piece goods stage and/or finished goods) for the accounts being managed.
  • Ability to work along and manage an assistant product developer to achieve daily and seasonal goals. Positively influence their growth and ability to handle tasks and brands on their own.
  • Communicates effectively with production team to ensure that the end-product is properly executed.
  • Proficiency in the PLM system, making sure that all information is accurate and fully updated.




Qualifications

  • Strong business acumen, global minded, decision maker.
  • Strong passion for the fashion industry, development of products and maintain businesses and relationships.
  • Extensive product development background with 5 – 10 years’ experience on working on/with brands.
  • Strong textile technical background on yarns.
  • Solid communication skills with customers, mills, factory ect.
  • Knit experience is highly preferred.
  • Able to deconstruct and reconstruct products.
  • Organized, professional, detail oriented and a good team player.
  • Grasp on testing requirements and protocols.
  • Quick learning, able to hand fast paced, changing environment.
  • Must have above average aptitude in: Analytical, Organization, Detail Oriented, Problem Solving, Planning, Follow-Up, Project Management and Time Management.
