The Senior Network Engineer will work in close association with the Network Infrastructure team, providing advanced technical skills and hands-on expertise. This role serves as a network technologies Subject Matter Expert, responsible for the design, implementation, documentation, stabilization, and operation of the company's network infrastructure. The Senior Network Engineer will deliver high-value/high-impact network projects, both domestically and internationally, and drive improvements to network uptime, reliability, and security.
This role involves providing hands-on network support, on-call L2 support, and resolution of escalated issues from other IT team members and cross-functional departments. The Senior Network Engineer will resolve implementation and integration issues, communicate system requirements to meet business objectives, and assist in IT Governance activities, including SOX audits and SOC/ISO certifications. The role also includes identifying and vetting key vendors and technologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs. The engineer will be comfortable explaining technology and business requirements to internal cross-functional stakeholders and vendors. Less than 10% travel, including international travel to remote data centers and points of service, may be required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Serve as the network technologies Subject Matter Expert for the company.
* Document, stabilize, and operate the existing network infrastructure to improve uptime and reliability.
* Own and deliver high-value/high-impact international network projects.
* Identify scope and create strategic infrastructure improvement projects to meet business requirements for functionality, availability, capacity, operability, and cost-effectiveness.
* Drive documentation, team mentoring, and training efforts on all aspects of the operation of the Network Infrastructure.
* Assist in IT Governance activities, including SOX audits and SOC/ISO certifications.
* Assist in identifying and vetting key vendors and technologies to improve efficiency and drive down costs.
* Comfortable and capable of explaining technology and business requirements to internal cross-functional stakeholders and vendors alike.
* Provide hands-on Network support, on-call L2 support and support for escalated issues from other IT team members as well as other cross functional departments.
* Resolve implementation and integration issues and communicate system requirements to meet business objectives.
* Design network and datacenter installations utilizing L2 and L3 protocols.
* Configure Palo Alto firewall policies and interfaces.
* Proactively resolve network issues.
* Work with minimum supervision.
Expertise and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience and expertise with a broad range of network technologies, including:
* Routing, including WAN technologies and protocols for secure internet, VoIP, and video (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP).
* Firewalls, Palo Alto Networks (including Panorama and VPN services).
* Switching, including Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, and FEX.
* Network acceleration, including Silver Peak WAN optimizers.
* WiFi based Cisco Meraki controllers and WAPs.
* Cisco Webex Calling and Webex video conferencing services.
* Cisco Room Kit and room systems.
* Network SIEM solutions based on Splunk, Qradar, or similar enterprise-grade security tools.
* Dell EMC, PowerVault, PowerScale Isilon, Unity Storage.
* Windows core services, including deep hands-on experience and capabilities with AD (including GPO), Exchange, DNS, DHCP, DFS, file and print services in a multiple AD Forest environment running on Windows 2012 through Windows 2022.
* Enterprise monitoring platforms such as PRTG, NetBrain, ThousandEyes, Tufin, Crowdstrike, Qradar.
* Network Access Control using Clearpass.
* Load balancing using NetScalers.
* 802.2/3, 802.1x, 802.1d VLANs/STP, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP (internals & flow control), HSRP/GLBP, LDP, TACACS, IPSEC, VPNs, NetFlow, DNS, HTTP, ServiceNow.
* Supporting global enterprise networks.
* Very good network troubleshooting skills.

Experience Required:
* Minimum 8 years of hands-on Network Engineering and Architecting skills with increasing responsibilities in specifying, implementing, monitoring, and operating complex network infrastructures, preferably in a multi-national company.
* The candidate will be highly knowledgeable and hands-on capable with enterprise-grade Cisco-based networks.
* The candidate must be capable of standing up a remote branch office and establishing secure and reliable connectivity to multiple company locations worldwide, ensuring monitor-ability, scalability, and security are all professionally implemented and properly documented with a minimum of support and supervision.
Education:
* At least one current CCIE and PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer) certification is highly desirable.
* A 4-year college degree or equivalent military or relevant industry experience with ongoing technical classes and training.
