Salary range: $75,000 - $100,000

Salary Is Based Upon Candidate Experience And Qualifications.

Work Environment: Office setting within data centers. Ability to safely use ladders and step stools to access equipment and cabling in rack-mounted environments. Movement of IT/network hardware including servers, switches, and cabling. Some travel may be required.

Atlantic.Net is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network Engineer to join our Network Operations team. This role plays a critical part in maintaining, optimizing, and evolving the core infrastructure and services that support our data centers, customer connectivity, and internal operations. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with Juniper routing and switching and Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, along with a broad understanding of data center and enterprise networking best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Networking Infrastructure

  • Manage, configure, and troubleshoot Juniper routers and switches in production environments.
  • Oversee / Installation of structured cabling and accessories; support inventory and procurement coordination.
  • Maintain IPv4/IPv6 address allocations and justification processes.
  • Support BGP peering services and assist customers with eBGP configuration and prefix advertisement.
  • Perform NetFlow analysis and contribute to DDoS mitigation strategies.

Data Center Facilities Support

  • Provide input on cabinet/rack layout, power requirements, and accessories
  • Coordinate cabinet energization and PDU provisioning
  • Support data center access coordination and remote hands dispatching

Network Monitoring & Visibility

  • Maintain and enhance NMS platforms; help define logical hierarchy and monitoring standards
  • Support internal teams in NMS configuration, onboarding, and alerting policies
  • Actively contribute to monitoring strategy and operational visibility

Security & Firewall Operations

  • Administer Fortinet FortiGate perimeter and DMZ firewalls, including firewall rules and NAT auditing
  • Manage VPN infrastructure and remote access policy enforcement
  • Guide internal teams on host security findings during audits
  • Act as SME for customer-facing firewall services and configuration support

Tooling, Automation, and DNS

  • Contribute to configuration templating, policies and documentation.
  • Contribute to NetBox data entry, validation, and automation integration
  • Support multi-team DNS record management (forward and reverse)

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering, with a strong background in data center and enterprise networks
  • Hands-on experience with Juniper routing and switching (EX/QFX/MX series)
  • Operational experience with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, including VPNs and policy creation
  • Deep knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking protocols, MPLS, VXLAN, BGP, OSPF, and IPAM best practices
  • Deep understanding of Networking and core Internet protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and distributed networks).
  • Experience with NetFlow, DDoS mitigation, and traffic analysis
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix, etc.
  • Working knowledge of power and rack infrastructure in data center environments
  • Strong communication and documentation skills across cross-functional teams
  • Work independently without significant oversite to follow requirements and develop solutions.
  • Stays current with emerging technologies related to respective technology domain.
  • Must be a self-starter with a natural desire to improve the environment and to proactively initiate and lead change.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, adaptable to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Participate in a 24x7 escalation environment as issues arise from NOC support team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications such as JNCIS/JNCIP, Fortinet NSE4+, CCNP, etc.
  • Prior experience in an ISP, MSP, or multi-tenant data center setting
