Summary

JCW has partnered with our client, an established credit union, looking for a skilled network administrator to come in and hit the ground running. You will be responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and optimization of the Credit Union’s network infrastructure. This role serves as a technical expert in both network and systems administration, ensuring high performance, reliability, and effective recovery procedures.

Working with a high degree of independence, this individual plays a key role in defining technical objectives, leading projects, and supporting IT staff through training and mentorship. The Sr. Network Administrator also evaluates network requirements, develops specifications, and implements effective solutions, delivering exceptional service across all departments while supporting the Information Systems Manager with strategic initiatives

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Act as the team lead for two junior admins (unofficial supervisor/escalation point).
  • Oversee and support the entire network infrastructure: servers, switches, firewalls, IP phones, and everything plugged into the network.
  • Manage and maintain VMware (primary virtualization platform) – currently running version 8.
  • Work with Active Directory (group policy, user management) in a Windows-only environment.
  • Collaborate with vendors including CrowdStrike, Darktrace, Juniper, and Palo Alto.
  • Handle firewall changes and manage relationships with firewall vendors – you're our internal "firewall group."
  • Use tools like Veeam and vSphere replication for backups and DR.
  • Partner with the Change Management team and other departments on infrastructure planning.
  • Provide support for on-call shifts (once every 5–6 weeks, typically Saturday AM).

What You Bring:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in network/system administration.
  • Strong knowledge of network security principles – you know how to maintain and defend a secure network.
  • Experience managing and supporting: Palo Alto and Juniper firewalls (no coding required, but know how they function and how to escalate/fix with vendors).
  • VMware (vSphere).
  • Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
  • Comfortable communicating with technical and non-technical staff alike.
  • A proactive, “jack-of-all-trades” attitude – especially from smaller environments where you’ve worn multiple hats.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to lift up to 50 lbs of equipment.
