Job Summary:
McAlister Design & Automation, a leader in custom robotic automation, and machine design, is looking for Mechanical Design Engineers to join our growing team. These individuals are responsible for the conceptualization, mechanical design, build, and prove out of industrial machine tools, fixturing, robotic work cells, and automation to support McAlister Design’s customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
Individually and through team leadership, develop conceptual designs for projects based on customer and internal inputs and requirements in Solidworks.
Individually and through team leadership, develop final designs for projects from input gathered during review(s) of concepts.
Work across departments to gather requirements and inputs to create solutions.
Drive a cross functional team to generate Machine Safety Risk Assessments for projects.
Work with the Controls Engineer(s) to develop a Sequence of Events and Timing Chart for projects.
Perform and lead review(s) of concepts and designs with internal teams and the end customer.
Generate required documentation (prints, bills of materials, etc.) for the project and release to manufacturing/purchasing.
Support the construction of the project through manufacturing, assembly, and runoff.
Update and prepare the final documentation for the project to be submitted to the end customer.
Technical Support for other departments within the organization.
Identify, prioritize, and implement automation recommendations to improve existing processes.
Contribute to operations roadmap to make sure goals are met.
Attend regular meetings with support staff and various team members to review upcoming issues, items, and training.
Collaboration with other facets of the machine build process.
FMEA’s and Safety Risk Assessments.
Interacting with customers.
Technical support for sales and customers.
Attend weekly project status meetings to collaborate with the rest of the project team.
Work to a schedule and a budget to complete the engineering tasks on time and in the hours allotted on a given project.
Hybrid available up to 25%.

Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Teams.
Education and Experience:
5 years or more of experience with the design of industrial machine tools and/or automation including robotic workcells.
Computer Proficiency in Solidworks 3D parametric solids modeling utilizing top-down assemblies and Solidworks PDM Professional.
Bachelors or Associates degree in mechanical engineering or related field Tool and Die or Machining Experience and/or knowledge base.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
