We are looking for a Senior IT Systems & Network Engineer to join our Global Network Operations team in Toronto. The Global Network Operations team resides within the Information Systems group and is responsible for the management, operations, maintenance, and security for the IT infrastructure that supports the organization. The team has several sub-teams that are collaborative and effectively apply technology to solve complex problems, which has been a key factor to the firm’s success. As an investment management firm, the company manages a wide range of global assets, and the financial group relies heavily on the IS team for a variety of different functions. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of strategic team, whose scope and importance continues to grow. Candidates require a combination of hands on senior technical skills involving large enterprise solutions and strong communication and inter-personal skills.
What You Will Do
Ensure that the network is secure, available, stable, efficient, and scalable.
Identify technology issues, develop required solutions and implement improvements to enhance the network configuration
Provide Level 3 technical problem resolution. Provide training and mentorship for network engineers and administrators.
Identify and implement changes required to the network configuration to meet investment business operations and growth requirements.
Liaison with business users, application development leads and network staff.
Undertake training for new technologies and implement.
Work with the network team to identify short- and long-term changes to the network configuration to reduce user support and optimize network operations.
Works closely with the IT Service Desk and other Specialist to ensure a timely, robust and comprehensive service transition process.
Responsible for overall system and infrastructure availability and develop a resilient infrastructure to reduce failures.
Responsible for day-to-day system administration, including management of internal network, VPN, Microsoft Active Directory (AD) and system backups.
Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of infrastructure service delivery methods and procedures.
Plan and implement upgrades needed to maintain service levels.
Develop and lead the replacement of infrastructure at end of life.
Identifies opportunities to simplify IT Service Desk operations through continuous improvement initiatives.
Remote network management
Provides Citrix, VM and Hyper V, Cisco & HP Switches, Firewall and Routers support and administration.
What You Bring
5+ years of relevant experience in IT/ Networking
Undergrad Degree in IT or related discipline
ITIL Service delivery manager qualifications
Microsoft Certification MCSE + Security
Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA) - (Desirable)
CISCO Certified (Desirable)
Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience of LAN, WAN & SD-WAN Technologies.
In depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory (Design, Security and Administration), Messaging (MS Exchange, Archiving, Unified Communications)
Good knowledge of Azure cloud infrastructure
Knowledge of Business Continuity Plans, design & operations
Good understanding of IT security and Data protection
Quick technology learner, easily adaptable, keeps up with latest network technologies.
Strong technical problem resolution skills.
Results oriented individual that has a track record of implementing and supporting technologies.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; including planning, prioritizing, organizing, managing, monitoring, adjusting, mentoring.
Ability to build solid working relationships with fellow IT and application team members, investment business support staff, vendors, and consultants.
Strong commitment to the delivery of high quality and efficient work.
Positive attitude and happy disposition.
