This position would require a hybrid work schedule of 3 days per week onsite and 2 days remote out of our Brentwood, TN office location.
As a high-level individual contributor within the enterprise learning and development team, the Senior Instructional Designer holds a pivotal position within our organization. They are responsible for the design, development, and program management of CoreCivic's internal corporate university's (CoreCivic University) content and curricula. This role involves close collaboration with senior leadership and CoreCivic University leadership to ensure alignment with our strategic goals and commitments.
The Senior Instructional Designer directs and designs content and curriculum development, faculty development, and the evaluation of effectiveness. This role will manage multiple projects, which include financial oversight and resource allocation, always with a keen focus on CoreCivic University's strategies and goals. Additionally, this role will manage full-scale design project plans, learning and development roadmaps, and financial models. Perform quality audits and provide associated communications to ensure that all programs meet our high standards of excellence.
In conjunction with CoreCivic University leadership, the Senior Instructional Designer recommends end-to-end learning processes, including learning evaluation, content design, development, and delivery. They manage CoreCivic University programs across various locations, encompassing classroom, e-learning, and blended learning sessions.
This role is crucial in maintaining the high quality of learning and development that CoreCivic University is known for. The Senior Instructional Designer's expertise and leadership ensure that our programs continue to meet the needs of our learners and support the overall mission of CoreCivic University.
A portfolio of past work to include e-learnings, learning guides, and learning content is required for the interview process along with an in-person skills case study utilizing the required design tools.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The incumbent should be able to perform all of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the job performance requirements.
1. Conducts and manages large scale instructional design of modules and programs to support overall CoreCivic University curricula. Manages subject matter experts and external training and development partners throughout the process.
2. Researches, plans, organizes and facilitates CoreCivic University programs, seminars and conferences to support team, individual, management and functional development activities. Monitors and reports on effectiveness of programs.
3. Coordinates and conducts need analyses with CoreCivic senior management to identify and define current and future learning and development needs. Formulates and develops plans, procedures and programs to meet specific needs and requests.
4. Designs, plans and implements internal faculty development programs; aligns training with CoreCivic University's strategic objectives, commitments and goals. Maintains current knowledge for instructor trends, best practices and standards. Monitors and evaluates development program for effectiveness.
5. Ensures the CoreCivic University efforts are delivered to ensure access to all employees regardless of location or accessibility challenges.
6. Designs Instructor Led Training (ILT), Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) e-Learning and blended material for new programs. Reviews, evaluates and modifies existing and proposed programs; recommends appropriate revisions in a cost-effective manner and within budget limits.
7. Designs and administers learning and development measurement plans, including surveys and focus groups. Applies tested instructional design theories, practice and methods.
8. Maintains records of all learning and development programs/participants with related personnel information; provides special reports when required.
9. Manages ambiguity and creates a roadmap where one may not currently exist. Manages shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
10. Solicits support from subject matter experts for content creation, delivery and knowledge transfer.
11. Domestic U.S. travel is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or an acceptable related field is required.
Five years of progressive learning and development experience within a corporate environment: training, facilitating, organizational development with all modalities and methods of training delivery (i.e., in person, virtual, and/or hybrid approaches) is required.
Experience must include three years leadership experience in end-to-end learning design and learning program management with senior level leaders.
A portfolio of past work to include e-learnings, learning guides and learning content is required for the interview process.
Demonstrated knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models, lesson and curriculum planning skills is required.
Advanced proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning development software and design (i.e., Rise, Camtasia, Articulate, Captivate, Storyline, etc.) is required.
Must understand the connection between business initiatives/objectives and learning and development within an organization. Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills is required.
Must have experience coaching leaders.
Experience with Cornerstone LMS systems preferred. ATD, PMI, SHRM certifications preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
