POSITION SUMMARY
This Process Controls and Automation Engineer role will interface with clients, vendors, construction personnel, and other engineering disciplines to ensure successful project delivery. The Process Controls and Automation Engineer be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems and automation solutions that drive the efficiency and reliability of our manufacturing or industrial processes. The Process Controls and Automation Engineer the opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation technologies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest standards of operational excellence.
Position Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement PLC control systems, including hardware selection, configuration, and programming for automation of processes.
- Collaborate with other engineers, project managers, and operations teams to develop automation strategies that meet production requirements and improve efficiency.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize control systems and automation equipment to ensure smooth operation and performance.
- Perform system upgrades, retrofits, and troubleshooting of existing automation systems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, control diagrams, and user manuals.
- Conduct testing and validation of control systems to ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company specifications.
- Provide training and technical support to maintenance teams and end users of automated systems.
- Monitor the performance of automated systems and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Participate in project planning, cost estimation, and scheduling to ensure timely project completion.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in automation technologies.
- Design and develop loop sheets, ensuring correct configuration of control systems and processes to meet design specifications.
- Design control panels, ensuring proper component selection, wiring, and layout for the safe and efficient operation of automated systems.
- Specify and select specialty instrumentation for processes, ensuring proper calibration, compatibility, and integration into control systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- The majority of work is in an office setting, with intermittent sitting, standing, and walking.
- Willingness to travel to site locations for commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities (if required).
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5-10 years) in designing, programming, and maintaining industrial control systems and automation equipment (PLC, SCADA, HMI, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of control system components, industrial communication protocols, and PLC programming languages (such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
- Proven experience in developing P&IDs, loop sheets, and control panel designs.
- Experience with DCS/PLC/HMI programming, including working knowledge of different programming platforms and languages.
- Experience with specifying and selecting specialty instrumentation (e.g., flow, pressure, temperature transmitters).
- Familiarity with safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13849) and regulatory compliance in industrial environments.
- Strong analytical and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
