At Ford, we're all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves? Ford's Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team is charged with delivering the company's vision of a fully electric transportation future. EVDD is customer-obsessed, entrepreneurial, and data-driven and is dedicated to delivering industry-leading customer experience for electric vehicle buyers and owners. You'll join an agile team of doers pioneering our EV future by working collaboratively, staying focused on only what matters, and delivering excellence day in and day out. Join us to make positive change by helping build a better world where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams. We're looking for passionate engineers to join our dynamic team. If you have a fervent interest in system integration and thrive in collaborative group settings, we want to hear from you. This is not just any engineering role; it's an opportunity to be at the heart of the industry's most exciting challenges, working alongside like-minded professionals to innovate, integrate, and inspire. The Battery Structure Architect is responsible for executing next generation concept development and detailed design of the battery structure. The responsibilities of this role span the entire lifecycle of the battery structure development, from initial concept to launch. What you'll do... * Develop battery structure for future EV vehicle platforms using alternative designs, material systems, and manufacturing processes to achieve best-in-class structural, NVH and crash performance from conceptualization to mass production. * Develop and mature 3D geometry of the parametric design of Battery Structures * Develop 3D geometry and design concepts that solve challenging problems while balancing construction, material, and manufacturing methods for the entire system. * Work with large assemblies to develop concepts for quick CAE analysis and further refine designs for prototyping and production. * Optimize the concepts and designs with analytical and physical assessments * Innovate, develop, and improve engineering development processes continuously * Architect, mature and develop the battery structure architecture from initial product scope and concepts through to design & release of prototype level components and systems that represent future production vehicles * Create design solutions and aid in the development of the manufacturing process to ensure part quality and performance are meet. * Develop, study, and implement novel structure construction techniques and drive them to production feasibility * Participate in design reviews and present design concepts. Make recommendations to improve and refine designs. * Work in cross-functional environment to identify and overcome technical challenges and meet requirements * Establish, organize, and track physical design validation targets and test cases for new product introduction. Crash, Abuse Testing, Reliability & Durability Testing, Corrosion Testing * Innovate, develop, and improve engineering development processes continuously * Challenge industry standards (as well as our own) to continually raise the bar What you'll do...
