Sr. Windows Systems Administrator in Sterling, VA Job Description: Government Tactical Solutions “GovTact” is seeking a Windows Senior Systems Administrator (SA) to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will become part of Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to provide IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally. The Windows Services support team provides enterprise level planning, analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, and operations services for the DOS Bureau of Consular Affairs. Core Work Schedule: First shift, approximately 7:30am – 4pm. Work Location: This position is hybrid with remote work and up to two days per week in the office in Sterling, VA or Washington, DC. Responsibilities: The Senior SA will receive guidance from the Windows Support Team lead and Program Management to support the client’s Microsoft environments. Track significant problems, monitor performance, and perform upgrades to systems as required with the proper change control approvals. Participate in long-and short-range technology planning and, additionally, will participate in new technologies initiatives and engineering to advance and optimize the client network. Work in a collaborative multi team trouble shooting environment for critical incidents. Maintain documentation regarding system configurations, procedures, and service records related to system changes. Qualifications: Must have an active Secret security clearance Requires BS/BA degree and 12 to 15 years’ experience or MS/MA degree and 10 to 13 years’ experience or high school diploma/equivalent and minimum 10 years’ experience. 10+ years administering, configuring, troubleshooting Windows Server class systems to include Server versions 2012-2022. 7+ years administering, configuring, troubleshooting Microsoft Active Directory, to include group policies, DNS, and domain controller management. 3+ years’ experience utilizing scripting languages (PowerShell/VB) to automate system administration tasks. Certification in Microsoft Windows technologies or any equivalent combination of training, certification, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and client focus. Self-starter who takes initiative to get tasks done. Knowledge of configuration management and a deployment processes. Team player must be able to work professionally and collaboratively with the government customer and other contract members of the project team. Ability and willingness to multi-task and work in a high-pressure environment with deadlines. Manage time effectively with minimal supervision. Working knowledge of government IT security and best practices. Technical Skills: Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022 Windows 10/11 Workstation Windows Active Directory, Group Policy Management, and DNS.
